Appearance- Hitogomi is an attractive, petite, woman with dark purple hair and blue eyes. When she shifts personalities, her eyes change slightly as well, becoming lighter as Kizui and darker as Akudou. She wears her hair short with it being longer on top and shorter on the sides with long tendrils in back. She wears the typical all-white outfit of an Espada of the 14th Division. It features a high necked crop top similar to Szael Granz and a pair of black thigh high boots. The top is worn mainly through the sleeves, which end in a kimono-like fashion and hakama pants that are split up the front, revealing a portion of her thigh that the boots and pants don’t cover. The pants are held up by a black sash but everything else is white with black trim. The boots feature the same white piping as normal Arrancar boots. She wears her haori on her shoulders.

Hitogomi wears her Zanpakuto sheathed at her back inside of a black sheath and not at her side. She wears a pair of red glasses and red fingernails. She also wears jewelry in the form of large gold hoop earrings, bangles on both wrists, and a gold chain necklace with a black crystal on the end. She wears light purple lipstick and light eye makeup. She has 3 moles underneath both eyes.

Personality-

Hitogomi suffers from Dissociative Identity Disorder which results in her having 3 distinct alter. In her natural state, Hitogomi is a polite, soft-spoken intellectual, often addressing her subordinates by their given names. She rarely shows any sign of alarm or distress, and often has entire situations planned out well in advance. Whenever confronted, Hitogomi is casual and uncaring, attempting to draw out a conversation and make small talk, which often infuriates those she is talking to. She has blackouts when one of her alters takes over but her alters appear to fully be able to communicate with each just not to Hitogomi herself. Hitogomi suffered abuse from her father as a child, and because of this she feels uncomfortable in the presence of large groups of men and tends to withdraw. Despite this, Hitogomi is very well liked amongst all of her subordinates and her partner. Unbeknownst to her, everyone knows about her alters and kindly never mentions them around her. Although fairly quiet, she’s also a well-natured and seemingly happy person but there is a sadness behind her eyes and she sometimes suffers with bouts of depression which leave her distant and withdrawn, sometimes for days. In battle, Hitogomi prefers to talk to her opponent to try to find common ground. If this is unsuccessful, she will try to subdue them as non violently as possible. She can be persuaded to hurt and even kill if it means protecting a love one.

Kizui is arguably everyones favorite alter. She typically acts in a goofy, energetic, and fun-loving manner. Loud voice, big smile and a wide range of facial expressions are her trademark features. She's prone to attack her subordinates all of a sudden for every reason, claiming it’s all to make them stronger. Kizui is the life of the party but as a captain, Kizui is a lazy and carefree captain who often tries to make Tsukino or her subordinates do her work for her. Despite this, Kizui is by far Tsukino’s favorite alter as they love to fool around and have a good time. She’s also rather sexual and enjoys drinking and flirting with girls and guys alongside Tsukino. Kizui does not remotely get along with Akudou but is on good terms with Nakadachi. She typically treats battle like a game, smiling while she adeptly subdues her opponent. When the game stops being fun though, she will quickly “get it over with”.

Nakadachi is the closest personality-wise to Hitogomi. The biggest difference is that whereas Hitogomi is quite sad, Nakadachi is friendly and open. Nakadachi is well-respected and highly honorable, and always treats those around him with respect, even those who are weaker or not as highly ranked as he is. As a result, he can be easily approached by other members of Soul Society who seek favors or advice from the captain. Due to his high moral code, Nakadachi will never let any harm come to either his underlings or those who attempt to protect them. He refuses to give up when he believes something is wrong and will break a rule to do what is right. He is also quite perceptive, and has the ability to correctly judge people's character. He frequently acts as mediator to not only his subordinates but Kizui and Akudou, typically placating Akudou and joking with Kizui. In battle, Kizui is calm, taciturn, level-headed, and analytical, preferring to not engage in combat: he is content with silently observing both parties until the fighting reaches its conclusion. He strongly opposes the notion of killing others but he can be quite aggressive and brutal when crossed.

Akudou is an alter that is rarely seen but only ever seen when Hitogomi goes into battle. Of all of the alters, he’s the one who is most feared. Hitogomi possesses great power but what stops her from being ruthless is her morality. Akudou possesses none of these qualms and will use and hurt people out of sheer amusement and manipulation. Akudou has a cold-hearted personality, and takes offense at being accused of having low intelligence as he is quite arrogant about his abilities and holds everyone else in love regard. Because of this disregard for human life, Akudou will kill at the drop of a hat and takes great pleasure in it.

Giragira and Kurakanaria’s personalities are unknown but what brief glance that has been seen of Choumin, she appears to be incredibly childish and immature.

Powers & Abilities

Master Swordsman: Despite the unpredictability of her Zanpakuto, all of the personalities are highly proficient in swordsmanship and being that they share the Captain spot with someone as skilled as Tsukino, they can be considered to be quite powerful. As the two of them practice regularly (he with all of the personalities), neither have yet to be able to best the other. In order of skill, Naka is probably the most skilled with a sword despite the fact he hates to fight. Hitogomi is next, followed by Akudou, and finally Kizui.

Hakuda Master: While the Hitogomi and the Naka personalities are less skilled (but considerably more skilled than an average Shinigami) in this form of combat, Akudou & Kizui are masters at hand-to-hand combat. They are able to fight and defeat large groups of enemies in a matter of seconds without lifting his sword.

Shunpo Master: While the Kizui personality is less skilled (but considerably more skilled than an average Shinigami) in this form of combat, Hitogomi & Akudou are masters at speed. They are masters at even the most advanced Shunpo techniques. Despite this, Tsukino appears to be slightly faster, much to Hitogomi’s chagrin. Naka is also quite skiled at Shunpo but is not considered a master.

Kido Master: This form of combat is a specialty of the Kizui & the Naka personalities. Capable of casting high level spells without incantation, Kizui & Naka are formidable. The other two are pretty good and knowledgeable about Kido but Kizui is much better. Kizui appears to also be slightly better skilled at it than Naka. Kizui excels at combat based spells with Naka excels at binding and healing.

Immense Spiritual Power: As a Shinigami of Captain-level, Hitogomi possesses an incredible amount of spiritual energy. She is capable of rendering a person unconscious just by releasing her reiatsu. Through Tsukino, she has learned how to wield her reiatsu as a weapon. Her Reiatsu is white.

Multiple Personalities: Hitogomi suffers from Multiple Personality Disorder and as such, has 4 people in her head- Hitogomi, Akudou, Kizui, and Naka. Each is distinctive and each has a different set of skills. Despite this, they still share a mind and thus any knowledge in their heads can be accessed by any of them, even if they’re unaware they know it. All of the personalities know about the others and it appears there’s a space within Hitogomi’s mind where they can speak and interact with each other.

Master Tactician: Hitogomi and Akudou have repeatedly proved themselves to be insightful and crafty, capable of quickly understanding any situation that presents itself and adjusting to it effectively. They have an innate skill to determine what actions should be taken in battle. The tactics they employ are based on subterfuge and confusion, with Akudou never hesitating to also fight dirty. They are adept at lulling their opponents into a false sense of security and allowing them to underestimate their abilities. A common tactic of theirs is to gauge the opponent's strengths and weaknesses in the middle of combat.

Keen Intellect: All of Hitogomi’s personalities are very intelligent. They are able to quickly determine the basics behind an opponent's power and its weakness. They can also use this information to quickly create an effective counter. Akudou in particular enjoys setting up traps in order to analyze the bodies, speed, and strength of his opponents.

Zanpakuto

Uragirimono (“Turncoat”): In its sealed state, it resembles a katana with a blue hilt and a circular guard.

Shikai: Its Shikai command is Pick A Side (“Saido o Erabimasu”). When released, the katana glows with white light. When the light disperses, the sword now looks like a black lacquered bokken, which is a guardless wooden sword with a blunted edge. At the bottom of the sword in white is the kanji ユダ (“Yuda”). Despite its seemingly harmless appearance, the bokken can cut just as well as a normal sword.

Shikai Special Ability:

Soul- Based Power Adaptation & Bestowal: Uragirimono is a strange Zanpakuto indeed. It has a flexible spiritual aura of its own which can sync to that of anyone wielding it. Even though only Hitogomi can seal and unseal Uragirimono, anyone can wield it. When this happens, the sword’s aura melds with that of the one wielding it, changing the sword into whatever form is compatible with the soul of the one wielding it. As an effect, the sword’s special ability changes to fit the need of the one holding it.

If a Shinigami with a Zanpakuto were to wield it, Uragirimono would mimic their pre-existing Zanpakuto abilities. If a human wields the sword, the sword will take the form and abilities that most suit that person, seemingly temporarily turning them into a Shinigami.

In Shikai, any ability the sword grants will only grant the user powers akin to a Shikai. This means that if a Shinigami gets a hold of it, they can only use their Zanpakuto’s shikai abilities while the sword is in shikai. Only Hitogomi can summon Uragirimono’s bankai state.

When the person holding the sword releases their hold on it, the sword will return to its black bokken form and any ability it created will vanish. Hitogomi cannot access the powers Uragirimono has adapted to as the sword only grants these powers temporarily and does not ‘store’ or ‘save’ them. Even when not in her possession, she can still command the sword to activate its release or Bankai remotely. But to reseal the sword, it has to be in her physical possession.

Because of its shifting abilities and spirit form, many people believe that Uragirimono is still in its Asauchi form, but this is not true as the sword’s true power is the ability it displays.

Because Hitogomi’s soul is fractured due to her mental illness, she has access to 4 different abilities, depending on which personality is in control at the time. Although seemingly random, there is a common factor between the abilities- they all revolve around the manipulation and production of energy and sound. Hitogomi cannot access any of the abilities of the other personalities and vice-versa if they are not the ones in control.

Hitogomi

Shouka Hime (“Singing Lady”): Released by the phrase Sing A Song of Love and Despair (“Ai to Zetsubō no Uta o Utaimasu”). The wooden bokken shape of Uragirimono glows and splits. One half begins to spin and as it spins, the sword disintegrates and reforms into a white violin. The other half takes the shape of a violin bow. It’s unique in that it has the guard and hilt of her sword’s unreleased form but instead of a blade, it has a violin bow. The part of the bow, though, that should hold the horsehair houses the blade of a katana.

Sound-Based Mind Control: Although the new shape of her sword does not hinder its cutting ability, when used in conjunction with the violin half of her Shikai it can produce 4 distinct songs. These songs affect anyone who hears them and target a very specific part of the brain which weakens whoever hears the songs and make their minds more susceptible to hypnosis. This allows Hitogomi to control them like puppets, making them hear, see, smell, and feel anything she commands. If for some reason a person cannot hear the song, they are unaffected by it and only a specific song works for a specific being so just because it works on one thing doesn’t mean it’ll work on another. In order forth control to work, Hitogomi must keep the song going. If she were to stop playing, the effects would fade away albeit slowly. For being who are a combination of things, she can meld songs together to increase their power. This power also typically affects five people at a time for each song. The more people, though, the less precise her control is. If she’s going up against enemies from multiple songs, this allows her to increase her level of control by mixing in other songs.

-Azuki Baba no Uta (“Song of the Bean Hag”): This song allows Hitogomi to control Humans and Human Spirits (including Shinigami). Extremely strong-willed people (or those with a higher level of spiritual energy) can shake off the hypnosis but this is quite difficult.

-Azuki Arai no Uta (“Song of the Bean Washer”): This song allows Hitogomi to control Zanpakuto. Using this song, she can command a sword to change form or reseal it. She can even command it to attack its owner.

-Koto Furunushi no Uta (“Song of the Old Master Koto”): This song allows Hitogomi to control animals, animal-like beings, and people who can become animals. By combining this song with Azuki Baba no Uta, if someone from the Komamura family were to hear it, they would completely be under her control as one song would control the human aspect and another would control the animal aspect.

-Yosuzume no Uta (“Song of the Night Sparrow”): This song allows Hitogomi to control Hollows, Arrancar, and Vizard. When it comes to Hollows, Menos and higher are pretty much immune to this song. Coincidentally, Arrancar are not, although some find it easier to resist suggestion. Similar to Koto Furunushi no Uta and those with animal blood, if a Vizard hears this song combined with Azuki Baba no Uta,, they would completely be under her control as one song would control the human aspect and another would control the hollow aspect. This is her most used song in Hueco Mundo. Using this song, she commonly keeps Hollows as bodyguards and pets.

-Hakushu (“Applause”): Shouka Hime’s only offensive attack. By focusing reiatsu into the strings of her violin, Hitogomi can fire blades of compressed sound waves. These are capable of cutting through practically anything. Each note of the strings carries a different level of sharpness with the G note being the lowest (and weakest) and the E note being the highest (and strongest).

-Dekishi Hakushu no Uta (“Song of the Drowning Applause”): A powerful attack indeed, when this song is played, the enemy (or enemies) are bombarded with compressed sound waves of various strengths and has the power to reduce everything around Hitogomi to nothing.

Akudou

Odokuro (“Starving Skeleton”): Odokuro has 2 release phrases, each with a different effect.

Released by the phrase Rattle (“Gatagata”). After activation, Uragirimono maintains its bokken shape but a loud ringing fills the air.

Fear Inducement: The ringing noise that sounds when the attack is released acts as a trigger which stimulates the fear center of the brain. Subconsciously, even to those completely unafraid of Akudou will begin to show signs of fear. Because the sound keeps ringing inaudibly throughout the battle, the fear will only get worse and more intense until the opponent is literally crippled with fear. This can be negated by those with equal or more reiryoku as Akudou but anyone who has less will feel it. Even so, those who are equal or stronger than him will still feel a sense of unease.

If this power is left unchecked, those who hear the noise will show advanced signs of fear. The victims will begin to doubt everything, lose control of all rational thought, and see visions of their deepest fears. If their spiritual pressure is not enough to stave it off, the strain of the fear will kill whoever hears it. The fear will turn into paranoia which will turn into anger and rage, causing anyone affected by it to attack allies as well as enemies.

Released by the phrase I Warned You (“Watashi Wa Anata ni Keikoku Shimashita”). After activation, the bokken slowly becomes made of a clear, iridescent crystalline substance. Just like the bokken, the cutting ability of this new material is not affected. From the end of the hilt, the sword takes on a knobbed quality, giving it the appearance of the end of a bone. Red glass beads which resemble bones dangle from the end and ends in a small crystal skull.

Energy Manipulation: Because of the new material the sword is made of, Akudou now has the ability to treat energy as if it were matter. What this means is, he can slice and cut through an energy attack as if it were a building or a person. More importantly, he can absorb any energy-based attack and shoot it back at his enemy in a stronger, modified red energy blast. He can also use the unique material of his blade to refract the attack off of his sword, allowing it to ricochet and damage another enemy or send it right back to his enemy.

Kizui

Hasaieko (“Crushing Echo”): Released by the phrase Repeat (“Hikikaesu”). After activation, the wooden bokken shape of Uragirimono glows and splits. The guard and hilt returns back to its unreleased form while the blade splits and takes the appearance of a tuning fork. Both of the prongs are sharp with the cutting edges facing the outsides.

Energy Absorption & Transferral: In her Kizui personality, Hitogomi has the ability absorb any energy-based attack aimed at her. This includes elemental, Kido, and reiryoku if it is directed at her. After the energy is absorbed, it can then be stored and turned into destructive force. This means that depending on how much energy Kizui absorbs is dependent on the strength of the energy she releases. Basically, the more energy she absorbs, the stronger the force is. The reason the object or person is destroyed is because Kizui takes that energy and transfers it into the thing. Because the new energy is so destructive, it tears the object apart. The energy she absorbs does not have to be used immediately and can be saved. Even if she seals her sword, the energy will remain inside of it until she uses it again. The downside to this is that the longer she keeps the energy sealed within the blade, the more brittle it becomes.

When at its height of power, this ability has the strength to blow a hole through an entire mountain range. If something is cut with the blades after they’ve absorbed massive amounts of energy, she can effectively disintegrate something at the atomic level, wiping it from existence. In order to do this, after the energy is absorbed, she merely has to tap the weapon on whatever she wants destroyed

She cannot use her own energy or reiatsu to use this power as it must come from an outside source. And she can only use her power for destructive means so even if she absorbs a Healing Kido, her weapon will convert it into something dangerous.

Nakadachi

Akuchibudifensu Bishamon (“Active Defense; God of War”): Released by the phrase Keep Away All Who Would Do Me Harm (“Subete no Mī o Surudarou Gai o Tōzakemasu”). When the Nakadachi personality is dominant, his sword glows blue and as the glow gets brighter, it seems to begin to solidify around Naka and the armor begins to appear.

Full Energy Armor Creation: In her Naka personality, Naka can summon a suit of armor made of energy around his body. The armor is blue, extremely durable and hard to destroy. Naka has the ability to adjust the needs of the armor to match what is needed. Most of the armor is a lot bigger than Naka himself so he appears to float within the armor. All of the different suits of armor can fire varying degrees of energy. If the armor is damaged, Naka simply has to inject more reiatsu into it. The armors protects the user against most forms of attack except, coincidentally, sound. This means the armor (and by extension Naka) is weak against sound-based attacks even within the armor. Visual illusions are also protected against as the armor has a sort of visual distortion around it that reflects vision-based attacks as well as seals Naka inside which protects his from poison or air-borne abilities. The strength of this ability depends on Naka’s ability to maintain the major output of energy this ability needs.

-Nurikabe (“Painted Wall”): This armor is quite large and bulky. It is used for defense mostly as the great thickness of the armor makes it very hard to get through to where Naka’s body is. This armor can create a large spiked shield and spear.

-Oni (“Ogre”): This armor is incredibly big at about 10” tall. It is used for strength because its large size gives it an appropriate level of strength. This armor can create an accompanying club to fight.

-Kamaitachi (“Whirlwind Cut”): This armor is fairly smaller than the others but is still quite large. It is roughly 7 feet tall and features a slimmer body than some of the others. This armor has 2 large blades which can extend from its fist. Of the armors, this one is also the fastest.

-Shichinin Misaki (“Seven Person Spirits”): This armor covers Nakadachi in about 5 inches of armor. This armor offers protection, just like the others but the power of this armor is the fact that it also summons 6 more suits of armor. They are sentient and obey Naka’s commands. They all wield swords but are slightly larger than the armor covering Naka as they are about 6 feet tall.

Bankai:

Uragirimono no Kisu (“Kiss of the Turncoat”): After her Bankai is released, depending on who’s the dominant personality decides what effects will happen.

Bankai Special Ability:

In Bankai, Hitogomi can basically use stronger versions of her Shikai abilities. All of the same rules to her powers apply as they did in Shikai so her Bankai gives each attack a power boost.

Hitogomi

Shouka Osakabe Hime (“Singing Lady of the Walls”): If Shikai is already activated, the pre-existing violin will glow with golden light. It will then begin to grow, taking the shape of a large cello, that’s nearly as tall as Hitogomi herself. What’s unusual about this weapon is that it takes the appearance of a curvaceous, naked, beautiful woman with pale skin. Although it looks and feels like skin, it is just as hard as wood. The woman’s eyes are closed and her black hair flows upwards to form the neck of the cello, with 3 pins in her hair which act as the pegs. The woman is armless and also legless with the bottom of the cello ending at her pubic region. Carved into her abdomen is the typical “S” shape found on these instruments. She sports the beginning of a fingerboard as a necklace around her neck and the tailpiece begins where her pubic bone ends with a long needle-like end pin at the bottom. The strings stretch from her neck to her pelvis. Her sword/bow remains the same.

Sound Controlled Demon Summoning: Using different songs, Hitogomi has the ability to summon 5 powerful demons, each with a different ability or function. The demons will stay summoned as long as Hitogomi keeps playing. To ensure the maintenance of the song, the instant Hitogomi begins playing, a barrier is erected around her and anyone in her immediate vicinity.

Whenever Hitogomi plays Shouka Osakabe Hime, the woman’s mouth opens and instead of the notes coming from the instrument, they come from her lips. Each of the sounds is distinctly different and fits that of the demon that needs to be summoned. When they’re summoned, the barrier around Hitogomi becomes visible. A ripple appears on its surface as the demon emerges from it. If the song is interrupted or the barrier is broken and Hitogomi or Shouka Osakabe Hime is hurt, the demon will vanish instantly.

Similar to its Shikai’s ability, Hakushu, each of the demons can play a number of harsh notes or tones which will release pure sound energy towards her enemies which vary in strength and uses.

Each demon is about 6’5” and takes the appearance of humanoid animals. They also wear a variation of a plain black bodysuit with design lines along the sides. They each have unique abilities aside from their natural weapons such as claws and teeth.

-Zensou: Sopurano (“Overture: Soprano”): This song summons a large white crocodile. She wears a sleeveless version of the bodysuit which has the same shape as a one-piece swimsuit. She also has cuffs made of the same material. She can summon piano keys made of golden energy. With these keys, she can summon sound waves that disintegrate anything in her vicinity.

--Yasoukyoku (“Nocturne”): This attack allows the crocodile demon to absorb surrounding sound and turn it into blasts of energy. The louder the noise is, the stronger the blast she can create.

-Undō Nanbāwan: Kontoraruto (“Movement Number 1: Contralto”): This song summons a large, barn owl. She wears a ¾ length sleeve version of the bodysuit which features shorts instead of a full pant. She also has a pair of matching gloves. She can summon golden energy wires from her fingertips which can grapple, slice, bind, and slash. With these harpstrings, she can send blade-like sound waves that slice anything in front of her by strumming the wires. These blades can get rather large if she anchors the wires to something.

--Kyousoukyoku (“Rhapsody”): This attack allows the owl demon to literally become sound waves. When this happens, she can teleport by riding the waves or make jumps within the waves, allowing her to move at the speed of sound.

-Idō Sū 2: Omomuki (“Movement Number 2: Tenor”): This song summons a pale human man with long white hair and completely black eyes. He wears the standard version of the bodysuit and remains barefoot. He can summon 4 golden energy drums. The 2 in the middle are larger; the ones on his sides are slightly smaller. With these drums, he can send out waves of sound every time he strikes it. He can also change into the typical appearance of a demon featuring claws, fangs, a spaded tail, and horns. He gains red markings along his body and his pupils turn red as well. This form enhances the strength of his attacks.

--Aika (“Dirge”): By tapping his drums at a constant and steady rate, this demon can create a sort of metronome effect. Using this state, he can manipulate the minds of his enemies allowing him to create fear-based illusions, induce slumber, or induce nausea, sickness, and vertigo.

-Idō Sū 3: Bariton (“Movement Number 3: Baritone”): This song summons a large white bat. She wears a strapless version of the bodysuit which features a shorter pant which ends mid-shin. She also has a collar made of the same material. She can summon a flute made of golden energy. With this flute, she can release one large sound wave that both destroys and knocks back anything in her path.

--Koncheruto (“Concerto”): This attack allows her to wrap her flute in sound wave energy, converting it into a vibrating sword which can cut through practically anything. When cut by the sword, it will not only cut but the sound waves will travel through whatever it cuts, destroying it from the inside out.

-Idō Sū 4: Teion (“Movement Number 4: Bass”): This song summons a large white turtle. He wears a standard version of the bodysuit. He can summon large tubas from his shell made of energy. With these tubas, he can summon huge blasts of sound waves.

--Koukyougaku (“Symphony”): This attack allows him to send out blasts of sound and study their echo like a sonar. When he does this, he can find that person or objects wave frequency. But syncing with this frequency, he can destroy practically anything on an atomic level with a simple blast.

-Chikonmisakyoku no Gakugeki (“Requiem of the Opera”): If for some reason the barrier around Hitogomi is broken and Hitogomi is separated from Shouka Osakabe Hime, by ordering it to “scream!”, it will spin on its end and let out a piercing scream which will blast everything away from it, destroy objects sensitive to its frequency, shatter eardrums, and even make people/ things explode. This is considered a last resort as the scream will cause the instrument itself to crack and be destroyed.

Akudou

Ketsueki Kesshou Gashadokuro (“Blood Crystal; Starving Skeleton”): When his Bankai is activated, a loud ringing sounds across the battlefield as the normally white crystal of his sword begins to turn a deep blood red. An enormous skeleton suddenly appears out of nowhere. When the skeleton is summoned, it too is made of red crystal.

Giant Skeleton Summoning: In her Akudou personality, Hitogomi can summon an enormous (about 20 stories tall) skeleton made of the same crystalline substance as his sword is. Because of what it’s made of, the skeleton has a number of attacks which take advantage of this. Similar to his Shikai, any energy based attack aimed at the skeleton will be absorbed. Using the absorbed energy, the skeleton can fire powerful blasts of energy back at the enemy from its mouth and hands. The skeleton is incredibly durable and according to Akudou, it is indestructible. Akudou retains the abilities he had in Shikai.

A drawback to this ability is that there exists a certain frequency which can shatter the skeleton. Fortunately, it is a very specific frequency that’s difficult to recreate. This frequency happens to be the same frequency which he uses when he activates his fear Shikai.

-Kesshou Kikatsu Gashadokuro: Inmen (“Hidden Surface”): By seizing control of the natural light in the environment, the skeleton can bend the light around itself and Akudou, rendering them both invisible. This ability only works in the presence of light so if either of them hit a shadow, the part not in the light will reappear.

-Kesshou Kikatsu Gashadokuro: Hahen (“Broken Piece”): This attack allows Akudou to summon pieces of the skeleton for various reasons, such as a ribcage to act as a prison or a hand to carry a weapon.

-Kesshou Kikatsu Gashadokuro: Oku no Danpen (“Many Fragments”): A powerful attack, by stabbing the ground, Akudou can summon countless skeletons from the earth. In order to do so, he must sacrifice the giant skeleton who then becomes energy that when injected into the ground, summons a lot of them. They are all made of the same crystal and have the same abilities as the giant.

-Kesshou Kikatsu Gashadokuro: Nani no karushiumumasen (“Calcium Deficiency”): Used as a last resort, this attack allows Ketsueki Kesshou Gashadokuro to release every bit of energy it has stored in its body. By doing so, the skeleton and Akudou’s sword will turn back to its white/clear crystal form and they will both crumble into dust. This attack at its highest level can destroy everything within a 10 mile radius.

Kizui

Hasaieko Betobetosan (“Crushing Echo; Sound of Footsteps”): After activation, the tuning fork katana glows and splits down the middle. As the glow intensifies, the sword halves become 2 staffs. Each end features a tuning fork design with the top end being bigger than the bottom. Halfway through the staffs is a circle around the pole of the staff where they’re held. Floating behind her is 3 silver gongs.

Enhanced Energy Absorption & Transferral: In terms of techniques, Kizui’s Bankai does not offer anything new but a boost of power. Instead of waiting for someone to attack her in order to use the tuning forks destructive energy, she can use it whenever she wants as she now absorbs all energy from her environment. This includes sunlight, reiatsu, and sound. This means that every hit from her Zanpakuto will cause massive destruction.

If an enemy were somehow able to stop her from absorbing energy, that’s why the gongs exist behind her. By striking them, she can absorb the energy of the soundwaves.

Nakadachi

Has yet to achieve Bankai

Spirit- The spirit of Uragirimono bears a striking resemblance to that of an Asauchi. Uragirimono is a tall being (especially in comparison to Hitogomi) with lean but muscled, white skin and practically no face. Although genderless in appearance, Uragirimono’s visage is slightly male as even Hitogomi addresses him as male. Uragirimono appears to be completely hairless and nude but lacks any traits that mark it as human such as nipple, a bellybutton, or genitalia. Like an Asauchi, Uragirimono also lacks a face, saved for mouths instead of eyes. These eyes move when he speaks and will occasionally (and grossly) lick his eyelids or drool, although the drool looks a bit like tears. Also when he speaks, smoke issues from both mouths and form a halo-like ring around his head.

What sets Uragirimono apart from an Asauchi is that Uragirimono has a singular eye on its chest. The eye is placed vertically and features a glowing white pupil and black sclera. Also, Uragirimono has black energy which flows from its back like wings and a large version of its unreleased sword form sticks out of its back, right between the shoulder blades. He can pull this sword from his back to fight. Whenever he pulls the sword from his back, the “energy wings” vanish. He also has clawed hands and feet.

Whenever someone else takes possession of Uragirimono’s sword form, if that person is a Shinigami that already has a Zanpakuto, Uragirimono will adapt some of the traits associated with that Shinigami’s Zanpakuto spirit. For example, if Ex-Captain Hitsugaya were in possession of the sword, Uragirimono’s spirit form would manifest the same ice talons and claws that Hyorinmaru has along with an ice dragon helmet.

Uragirimono is just as bipolar as his owner in terms of personality as it seems that one second he’ll be happy and energetic and the next, violent and confrontational. The switches happen at the drop of a hat and are highly unpredictable.

Inner World- Uragirimono’s Inner World is just as plain as he is. It is just an endless, vast, black pit of nothingness that completely surrounds you. It’s covered in extremely thick clouds of smoke, mist, and fog. Uragirimono can usually be found somewhere within this world, lounging. Despite the disorienting darkness, this world does have a ground, which is a long stretch of pure white sand. For some reason, no footprints are ever left in the sand.

Trivia-

-All of Hitogomi’s Zanpakuto are based on the principles of sound and, to a lesser degree, energy. This still draws from sound as sound is a type of energy.

-All of her Zanpakuto Bankai abilities (with the exception of Nakadachi who doesn’t know Bankai) involves summoning an extra being. In the case of Nakadachi, his shikai allows him to summon an extra being.

-An odd thing to note is that even though Hitogomi’s Shikai and Bankai are based on playing the violin, she herself cannot play the violin when he powers are not released. Also strange is that Naka can in fact play the violin.

-It has been shown only on one occasion that there exists another personality named Choumin (“Townspeople”). It appears to have a Zanpakuto with the ability to create a Hive Mind using sound and poison, making it the queen of the hive. The one time it appeared, it heavily implied that it was not safe for it or the other personalities and it’s been in hiding since.

-Choumin’s hiding has been implied to be because she’s being hunted by Akudou. It’s also been heavily implied that there existed at least 2 more personalities, Giragira who had the power to convert sound to light and Kurokanaria who could produce a loud, high-pitched chirping noise. This chirping created an area of soundlessness which make her opponents unable to communicate with their sword, rendering them incapable of activating it. These 2 personalities were hunted and killed by Akudou and Hitogomi doesn’t even remember their existence.

-Giragira is inspired by the X-Men Dazzler as his name can be translated into “Dazzle”. They also possess the same abilities. This falls in line with Kurokanaria as her name can be translated into “Black Canary”, another superhero who also has sound based powers.

-Of her many personalities, she’s had Kizui the longest as she first manifested when Hitogomi was 6. Naka manifested when Hitogomi became a Shinigami and Akudou manifested when Hitogomi was assigned to the 14th Division and first entered Hueco Mundo. It’s been hinted that Choumin first manifested when Hitogomi was about 17.

-Age-wise, Akudou appears to be the oldest, Naka seems to be closer in age to Hitogomi, and Kizui appears to be a teenager. Choumin appears to be a child or at least a pre-teen.

-The names of her Zanpakuto’s separate names and abilities are all based on mythical Japanese creatures called Yokai. As Hitogomi, Osakabe Hime is a yokai with the ability to manipulate people like puppets, including animal-like beings called kenzokushin. The names of her songs in Shikai are also the names of yokai who sing in some way. As Akudou, Gashadokuro is a giant skeleton made of the bones of those who have starved to death. Its presence can be known by the accompanying ringing in the ears. As Naka, his individual armor forms are named after mythical creatures. Nurikabe is a yokai which takes the form of an enormous invisible wall that extends as you try to maneuver around it. A Kamaitachi, is a weasel-like creature who moves with the wind, inflicting cuts on any it encounters. Shichinin Misaki is a group of 7 ghosts who have drowned at sea. Finally, Betobetosan, Kizui’s Shikai, is a type of spirit which walks behind people, mimicking their steps.

-There are many guesses as to what Hitogomi’s true Zanpakuto power would be if her psyche were whole. Some theorize the abilities of her Hitogomi personality are her real abilities. Some think her real abilities are a combination of the four abilities. But as it appears she’ll only manifest new personalities and never lose any naturally, the truth (if there exists one) will never be known.

-Each of the demons summoned during the Hitogomi Bankai correspond to both the Eastern and Western elements. Zensou: Sopurano corresponds to the Wood (and Void) element which is said to control scaled beasts. Undō Nanbāwan: Kontoraruto corresponds to the Fire element which is said to control feathered beasts and rules over stringed instruments. Idō Sū 2: Omomuki corresponds to the Earth element which is said to control human beasts and rules over percussion instruments. Idō Sū 3: Bariton corresponds to the Metal/Air element which is said to control furred beasts and rules over wind instruments. And finally, Idō Sū 4: Teion corresponds to the Water element which is said to control shelled beasts and rules over resonant metal instruments.

-Hitogomi’s original weapon form Uragirimono, is based on the biblical figure “Judas” who was considered to be the ultimate betrayer. The word found on the sword “Yuda” is the Japanese equivalent of his name and its Bankai references Judas Kiss.

-Oddly enough, the vibrations created by Captain-Commander Freyja Forseti cancels out the sound abilities of the Hitogomi personality, meaning her vibrations operate on a higher scale than the vibrations created by Hitogomi’s sounds.

-Each of her personalities also has their own reiatsu. Hitogomi’s is golden/yellow, Akudou’s is red, Kizui’s is blue, and Naka’s is white.

-Unknown to the other personalities, Akudou has been helping Kazui Kurosaki in his plans, including allowing him to operate in secret in a deserted section of Hueco Mundo.

-Hitogomi and her personalities share similarities with several characters including The White Violin of The Umbrella Academy, Tayuya of Naruto, Lena of Shamanic Princess, Armor of X-Men, Dazzler of X-Men, Black Canary of Green Arrow, and to some degree Kaho Mizuki (and her Moon Bell) of Cardcaptor Sakura.

Base of Operations- Seireitei, Soul Society, Hueco Mundo

Appearance-

Tsukino is an imposing anthropomorphic rabbit. He is the tallest man in the Seireitei. He is covered in white fur and has large red eyes. Tsukino has a thin but toned physique. He has long ears which stand straight up and he also has small but sharp claws, a small tail, and rabbit-like feet.

He wears the standard uniform of the 14th Division which features an all-white (with touches of black) outfit, reminiscent of an Arrancar. In Tsukino’s case, he wears a long white sleeveless top that ends mid-shin and is split on the sides, separating it into 3 sections. He also wears an open white coat that features the same design elements as a Captain’s haori. All of these feature black piping and the top is tied with a thick black sash. His hakama pants are also white and he also wears arm and shin bands that resemble the typical black Arrancar boots with white piping.

Personality-

There was one word to describe Tsukino: seductive. Tsukino is very much in touch with his body and sex appeal and wants everyone else to be in touch with his body. Despite being a rabbit, he flirts with everyone and is known to be quite popular with the ladies (and the men). He’s not above showing off his body and is extremely confident. He is not the slightest bit modest about her appearance, frequently referring to and emphasizing his muscles in normal casual conversation, much to the embarrassment/amusement of anyone around at the time. He is not above using his considerable charms to get his way, in fact, he would even consider stripping naked if no one compliments him on his appearance.

His overconfidence can be seen as arrogance, especially when you consider his extreme vanity and narcissism. Some see him as extremely shallow as he’s very much fixated on his own beauty. Really, he does this because for a long time he was very uncomfortable with the way he looked and extremely self conscious but then when he realized his true beauty, he began to own it. A little too much.

Despite his high sexuality and vanity, he is very caring to his subordinates, respectful to his co-captain, and loyal to his friends. He can sometimes offer advice he thinks is helpful or criticism that he thinks is constructive but usually come out harsher than he intended. He can also be a bit of a jokester who loves playing jokes on people. Amongst his squad, he’s seen as the fun, happy, and relatable captain that many may see more as a friend than a captain.

In battle, he becomes very serious and determined, willing to fight to the death for his honor and that of his allies.

Powers & Abilities

Expert Swordsman: Tsukino shows a great deal of proficiency in wielding his Zanpakutō. While he can obviously hold his own in a fight, his skill in the wielding of his Zanpakutō comes from his mastery of its special ability. Through sheer imagination in conjunction with his Zanpakutō's special ability, Tsukino has become skilled at taking on large groups at once.

Shunpo Master: Due to his naturally accelerated speed, Tsukino is very adept at speed and Shunpo techniques. He is fast enough to surpass even his Captains but his speed isn’t so great that he can keep up with Leila Qamar, Captain of the 2nd Division, although Leila has commented on his skill.

Hakuda Expert: Before he became a Shinigami, Tsukino was always roaming around looking for fights. Most opponents did not have swords, so he frequently fought barehanded. He won against everyone he fought, and upon seeing his strength but mostly his speed (and his unusual appearance), most people fled from him.

Kidō Practitioner: Tsukino's actual skill level in Kidō is unknown, but he was able to teleport himself and Hitogomi a considerable distance using "Sentan Hakuja". He was also able to cast "Hakufuku" on himself to prevent the enemy from perceiving his Reiatsu.

Immense Spiritual Power: As a Shinigami of Lieutenant-level, Tsukino possesses an incredible amount of spiritual energy. His spiritual power places him on the same reiatsu levels as a Captain. His Reiatsu is red.

Immense Speed: Tsukino naturally has a heightened level of speed. Many believe he’s using Shunpo but really he’s just incredibly fast.

Immense Endurance: Tsukino is capable of taking considerable amounts of damage and still continuing to fight, despite the severity of his injuries. He’s able to keep fighting, even with fatal injuries.

Enhanced Senses: Because of his animal form, he is in possession of superior senses. His sense of hearing is the strongest, probably because of his large ears. His sense of smell is also rather keen.

Enhanced Reflexes: Tsukino has very keen reflexes to the point where his reactions to danger make it seem as if he can predict it before it happens. His speed and reflexes are what set him apart from many others in the Soul Society.

Expert Tactician: Tsukino has proven to be quite intelligent when he needs to be, such as fooling his opponent into believing that he was unconscious in order to set a trap. He is very good at setting traps using his tactical skills and uses them mostly to plant seeds of doubt and disorder within his enemy. This also helps for when he can’t effectively use his powers because of time of day.

Animal Communication: It is also known that he is able to talk to animals.

Luck: As stated before, Tsukino has a high level of “luck” as events seem to just go his way. This luck is completely subconscious as he has no control over it and it won’t work if no action is taken. This means if he stands perfectly still in a fight, he will still get injured. If he makes the move to fight back, this ability begins to work. He cannot direct it in anyway as it simply works in general and the luck works in a way that nothing out of the ordinary or anything flashy will happen. This skill doesn’t extremely alter probability and even when something bad does happen to him, it finds a way to work itself out in the end miraculously. It will only work if there was a possibility of it going his way in the first place.

Zanpakuto

Getsureiki (“Age of the Phases of the Moon”): In its sealed state, it resembles a nodachi with a red hilt and a circular guard featuring a crescent moon.

Shikai: Its Shikai command is Ebb and Flow (“Michihiki”). The sword’s blade glows and begins to shrink before curving into a crescent-shaped blade and splits into two swords. This gives the swords the appearance of a sickle or a kusarigama. Tsukino’s feet no longer touch the ground as he hovers/levitates instead of walking.

Shikai Special Ability:

The most obvious aspect of Tsukino’s abilities is that they wax and wane in accordance to the phases of the moon. This is in tuned with wherever he is so if he was to change locations and the moon was in a different phase, his powers would be affected. This basically means that he’s weakest during a new moon and strongest during a full moon. This does not mean he’s powerless or useless during a new moon as even then, his powers are impressive. If he goes someplace where a moon is not present, his powers will revert to the phase in which he was in the last time a moon was present.

Enhanced Time Perception: The most obvious aspect of his powers is his ability to perceive time quicker than that of anyone else. When he does this, his right eye glows a pale blue and using this eye, he is able to see time slower than it actually is. This allows him to react to situations and adjust himself quickly. To him, time seems to move slowly and on the inverse, to everyone else, he appears to move extremely fast. The drawback to this ability is that he can only use it for a certain amount of time. The amount of time he has also grows as the moon grows larger. When the moon is in its new moon phase, he can use this ability for about 7 and a half seconds and when the moon is in its full moon phase, he can use it for a minute with the time increasing by increments of 7.5 each lunar phase. The reason that he can only use it for a minute at a time during a full moon is because the moon is only 100% full for about a minute before it subtly shifts again to begin its waning period.

Even though 7 and a half seconds does not seem like a lot of time, the fact that Tsukino is already incredibly fast helps. Add to that the fact that this time is based on the time outside of his perception so in reality, he’s under this abilities influence for longer but to the outside world, it’s only been a few seconds.

Another drawback is that when at his full power, he can continuously use this ability but each time he uses it, his eye blurs and becomes wracked with pain. These side effects disappears gradually when he deactivates his Zanpakuto but eventually, he will lose sight in his right eye and will be unable to perform this technique unless he reseals and reactivates his Zanpakuto.

-Wangetsuken (“Crescent-Shaped Blade”): His only offensive attack, Tsukino can charge his blades with reiatsu and fire crescent-shaped energy blades at his enemies which grow larger as they gain distance. These blades not only damage and cut whatever they hit but have the unique ability to make them slightly heavier. The more he hits a person or thing with these blades, the harder it becomes for them to move. The strength of these blades also increases when the moon is at its peak.

-Wangetsuken: Wakkusu Gaketsuki (“Crescent-Shaped Blade: Waxing Moon”): Similar to the original attack, this technique fires a barrage of crescent energy slashes.

Bankai:

Getsurei Akashio Tsukuyomi (“Age of the Moon; Red Tide; Moon of the Underworld”): After his bankai is released, he presses his two swords together as they glow. They then combine into a large scythe. The scythe is completely black, save for the large crescent shape of the blades on both ends. The clouds then part as a full moon hangs heavy in the sky (regardless of the moon’s current phase, his Bankai always makes a full moon) as the area grows pitch black. Suddenly, the moon turns blood red, painting everything in a mile radius red. Tsukino continues to float and both eyes glows pale blue as his fur turns pitch black and has an almost fire-like quality to it.

Bankai Special Ability:

Even though, initially his abilities seemed to be based on time and his perceptions of it, his Bankai reveals the true nature of his Zanpakuto’s abilities.

Gravity Manipulation: In Bankai, his Zanpakuto makes what Tsukino saw in Shikai a reality. Everyone the light from his Bankai’s moon touches will perceive time to move slower than it actually is. This happens because the moon’s light increases the gravity of what it touches so time is not actually moving slower, the person is simply moving slower because their gravity is increasing. The only person immune to this effect is Tsukino as even his allies will fall prey to his Bankai if they are in his vicinity. Those trapped in his world will increasingly get heavier as long as his Bankai is active.

The moon’s light is focused on Tsukino’s area so anyone who looks up at the sky outside of his range will see the sky as it truly is.

Those with a strong enough reiatsu can find it easier to resist the pull of gravity but even they are not immune to it and it’s impossible to destroy the moon. Because of the “dragging” effect of his Bankai, time within his sphere feels as if it’s moving incredibly slow.

Just like his Shikai, he can only keep this effect going for a length of 5 minutes as his vision will begin to deteriorate the longer he keeps it active. Also, because of the blackness of the darkness and the change in his fur’s color, Tsukino gains the ability to camouflage himself within the shadows.

Tsukino himself experiences the opposite effect as his personal field of gravity is reduced, making him substantially lighter than the world around him. This however, does not affect his attack strength, but does increase his speed and agility, making him nearly impossible to hit when added with his already impressive speed.

-Wangetsuken: Mangetsu (“Crescent-Shaped Blade: Full Moon”): Same as in Shikai but much more powerful, Tsukino charges his blades with energy and by swinging the scythe in a circle can either fire it at the enemy in the form of a huge crescent-shaped blade of energy or a large disc of energy. Anything caught in the path of this blade with be cut severely as the blade has the force of the increased gravity behind it.

-Gekkou (“Moonbeam”): Tsukino can use this technique to focus most of the moon’s light on one person or group of people, they are instantly dragged down by the force of increased gravity. Those that the beam is not focused on will still feel the effects of the Bankai but not as severely.

-Hangetsugata no Kago (“Protection of the Half Moon”): By enclosing himself in a semi-circle of increased gravity, Tsukino can create a barrier which blocks him from harm. This field only protects his front though, so an attack from behind him will hurt her.

-Juugoya: Gesshoku (“Night of A Full Moon: Lunar Eclipse”): Tsukino’s strongest Bankai attack. A large circular shape moves over the moon, covering it until nothing is left but a ring of red light. The gravity returns to normal but the attack is not over. The dark shape covering the moon becomes a black hole, sucking in and devouring everything within Tsukino’s Bankai’s perimeter.

Spirit- Getsureiki is a tall, attractive man with long black hair and pale skin. His eyes are unusual- the right is pale blue and left is grey. He usually sports an arrogant sneer and an air of superiority. He wears layers of fine kimono in cool tones- blues, purples, and greys, and wears a golden headdress. The outermost layer of kimono features a pale blue kimono with a large wave/tsunami design. The headdress features a large crescent with magatama designs on either side and a loop of gold across the forehead. His long hair is half up, half down, secured with an ornate headpiece which keeps it in a topknot. The ends of which are white. He has long sideburn/ bangs, tied towards the end with a gold band. The back of his hair also features a gold band holding it together. He wears a pale grey obi sash held closed by a beaded belt that features 2 circular mirrors and a loincloth. The loincloth depicts the phases of the moon in silver. He has a similar necklace which consists of 5 mirrors which ranges in size, each with a tassel dangling from it. He also wears mirror earrings. A white piece of fabric floats around him in an arc. He wears dark purple nail polish.

Getsureiki is proud, arrogant, and superior. He has a huge ego and an inflated sense of self. This causes him and Tsukino to butt heads very often. Despite this, he is very calm and has an air of nobility about him. He hates talking to those he considers to be beneath him and gets annoyed by “stupid questions”. Although he doesn’t outright get angry, he does get annoyed.

Inner World- Getsureiki’s world is an island-like platform amidst a huge, black sea. The dark sky features 8 moons which arch across the sky in their respective phases, with the full moon being in the center of the sky. But if one were to look in the waters surrounding the island, they would see in the water’s reflection that there’s only one red moon in the sky.

The platform itself is made of white rock and dust and closely resembles the surface of the moon.

Trivia-

-Tsukino’s favorite food is mochi and his favorite drink is sake. He hates carrots.

-Tsukino is based on many different cultures and myths. His Zanpakuto bears the name Tsukuyomi, the Shinto god of the moon. Rabbits have long been associated with the moon as the Japanese believe the moon is a rabbit making mochi or rice cakes. Mochi just happens to be Tsukino’s favorite food. The moon is also known to represent time and controls gravity just like the ability of his Zanpakuto. Hir impressive speed represents the myth that rabbits are unnaturally fast. His sake addiction comes from the Aztec legend of the 400 rabbit gods who represented revelry, drunkenness, and fertility. Rabbits have a long history of being sexual, which explains Tsukino’s lechery. Finally, his uncanny luck stems from the common myth of the “lucky Rabbit’s foot.” There also exists a story called the “Hare of Inaba” (Inaba being Tsukino’s last name) that tells of a hare meeting a boy named Ōkuninushi (sometimes Amaterasu, Tsukuyomi’s sister) who helps heal him in exchange for a princess.

-Tsukino is an orphan who was raised by Humans who found him wandering the streets as a child. They taught him to not be ashamed of his animal form and even instilled in him that this trait makes him better, which is why he has such an ego. He has no clue who his real parents are and he has yet to ever meet anyone like him.

-Even though his family celebrates his birthday on New Year’s Day, they don’t know when his real birthday actually is. January 1 was the day they found him and so they consider it his birthday.

-His parents couldn’t have a child and the day they went to the temple to pray was the day they found Tsukino. He is their miracle.

-Despite sharing a last name, Tsukino and Kageroza are in no way related.

-Tsukino regularly hooks up with both Emiko and Luciano. When it was discovered that the Wandenreich had been remade and members of the Soul Society was helping, Tsukino was suspected and imprisoned for a time. This because 3 of its members (Emiko, Luciano, and Hitogomi) all had connections to Tsukino.

Name- Masako Hitsugaya

Name Meaning- “Justice”; "Sun", "Turns In A Series of Sequence", "Valley"

Race- Soul

Birthday-

Age- Appears to be in her late teens

Gender- Female

Height- 4’11”

Weight- 80 lbs.

Hair- Half-White/ Half-Black

Eyes- Turquoise

Skin- Pale

Orientation- Heterosexual

Affiliation- Gotei 13, Soul Society

Profession- Shinigami

Position- Lieutenant of the 13th Division

Division- 13th Division

Division Color- Maroon

Partner- Hyogo Yamaguchi

Base of Operations- Seireitei, Soul Society

Appearance-

Masako is a very youthful girl with turquoise eyes and strange hair which is half white and half black that ends at the middle of her back. It is worn straight with a swooped bang (where the two colors meet) held away from her face by a snowflake barrette. Unlike other Shinigami, she wears the typical uniform of a schoolgirl in the Human World. The uniform features a white top and navy pleated skirt and has a sailor-like design including navy stripes on the top and white stripes on the skirt. She also wears a pair of black knee high combat boots and black leather biker gloves. Interestingly enough, when operating at night, she opts for an all-black variation with subtle white accents. At this time she will also tie her hair into pigtails

Personality-

Masako is everything she was raised not to be. She is quite loud, rude, brash, and tomboyish. She has a strong personality and expresses her thoughts by yelling and punching. Masako is also very violent, fighting anyone who she feels has insulted her even just a little. But her temperament is so wild that many choose not to interact with her. This is because she could take a simple glance in her direction as a dishonor and will proceed to attack you. She also appears to enjoy fighting, not just when she’s insulted but when she’s happy, bored, or sad. She simply likes fighting and won’t even make an excuse as to why she’s doing it. She simply doesn’t care.

Despite her violent nature, Masako isn’t all bad. She’s actually a happy person who loves doing fun, daring things. She’s impulsive but spontaneous. She’s loud but energetic. She’s violent but passionate.

If she considers you a friend and ally, though, she will fight to the death for you and that’s the quality many admire in her. Unfortunately, she doesn’t see many as a friend as it’s hard to impress her. She’s also very bull headed and stubborn.

Because of her upbringing, she’s annoyed by people who are more thoughtful, calm, quiet, or plays by the rules as she spent most of her childhood under the “stifling” thumb of her parents who are very different from her. At the core, she’s always felt misunderstood by her parents which is probably where a lot of her anger comes from. She seems to have an extremely contemptuous relationship with her mother as her mother wants her to be more like her but Masako sees her mother as weak and embarrassing. On the inverse, she’s terrified of her father.

She does respect her captain, Hyogo, very much and is very loyal to him as she will follow his orders without question. Even though he’s not that much older than she is, she sees him as a father figure and respects his thoughts and opinions highly. Much to the chagrin of her captain (and the amusement of his lover), she refers to them as “father” and “mother”. This confuses many as in their identities in the Human World, they’re brother and sister.

Equipment-

Kuma-Kun: Kuma-kun (or Mr. Bear in the dub) is a stuffed bear Hitsugaya had made by Mayuri for Masako when she was a child. Kuma acts as many things for Masako including companionship, storage space, and most importantly, protection. Kuma speaks in a Cockney British accent and specializes in swear words and potty language. He’s generally quite small but can grow larger when he needs to (when Masako was a kid, she thought Kuma was enormous but now that she’s bigger, she’s realized he’s rather average in size). He has a zipper along his front that when unzipped leads into a vast empty space. This space is endless and within it, Masako can hold many things. It’s even possible for her to climb in for protection. Kuma is extremely strong, durable, and tough to beat and because of his connection to Masako he can siphon bits of her reiatsu to fire beams of energy.

Gigai: All members of the 13th Division are required to have a gigai as their division specializes in interaction with humans in the human world.

Gikongan: Masako tends to use the Yuki model when she returns to the Seireitei. Yuki’s personality is similar to Momo’s.

Spiritual Limiter: All Shinigami captains and lieutenants have their spiritual energy reduced by about 80% when they enter the Human World by use of a spiritual limit, represented by a seal called the Gentei Reīn (”Soul-Limiting Symbol”), which resembles the symbol unique to their Division, in order not to cause unnecessarily high damage while there. In extreme cases, where their full power is needed, they can request a limit release. The command to release the seal is Gentei Kaijo (“Limiter Release”).

Denreishinki: A vital tool for any Shinigami stationed in the Real World, this variation on a cell phone functions both as a regular phone and as a communication line with the Soul Society. It receives information about the time and exact location of a Hollow's emergence via GPS. A Shinigami's kills are also recorded in the phone and can be used as currency (according to the bounty placed on each Hollow).

Zajiku (“Set Axis”): Similar in function to a Denreishinki, this scroll-like object lists a Shinigami's targets and instructions for their mission.

Powers & Abilities

Swordswoman: Masako shows expertise in wielding her Zanpakutō but rarely uses it in sword form so her skill with a sword is relatively unknown. She prefers to fight using her Zanpakuto’s Shikai form instead of its sealed form.

Kidō Practitioner: Masako is highly proficient in Kidō, and is capable of performing mid-level Kidō spells without the incantation. She’s by no means a master but she can hold her own in a Kidō battle.

Shunpo Expert: Masako is highly proficient in Shunpo. Repeatedly in battle, she has shown herself able to block and dodge dangerous attacks.

Hakuda Master: Masako is a highly capable unarmed fighter and is known by many to be a master in the subject. While fighting offensively, she has shown tremendous agility and dexterity, able to combine fast punches and reflexive dodges.

Detection & Analysis: Masako has displayed some detection and analysis skills with Reiatsu. This gives her the unique ability to track and locate people and distinguish them from others.

Immense Spiritual Power: Masako's spiritual power has the same effect as her Zanpakutō, as it is an elemental representative of fire. Her Spiritual Pressure is said to be very large and "hot". Even before she became a Shinigami, her spiritual pressure was immense and uncontrollable and caused people around her to sweat and dehydrate. This hot spiritual power of hers reflects her attitude as well. When she emits her reiatsu, it takes the shape of a large dragon head. Her Reiatsu is pale blue.

Enhanced Durability: Despite her young and petite appearance, Masako has shown herself to be a resilient fighter.

Enhanced Strength: She is strong enough to easily lift a fully grown man, who is almost twice her height and over five times heavier, and leap between buildings while carrying him.

Zanpakuto-

Kaika (“Ghost Fire”): In its sealed state, it resembles an average katana. It has a blue hilt and a circular tsuba. There are several charms hanging from the sword’s hilt similar to ones found on cellphones.

Shikai: Its Shikai command is Spew Forth The Flames of Hell (“Jigoku no Zengo Honō O Hakimasu”). Masako grips her sword with both hands. The sword begins to melt from the tip of the blade to the end of the hilt. As it melts, the melted sword covers her hands before solidifying over her knuckles as a pair of steel knuckles. They are black and silver in appearance with a small notch at the end near her pinky fingers.

    Shikai Special Ability:

Fire Manipulation: Masako can command her knuckles to cover themselves in blue flames to use her fists as flaming bludgeons, dealing both physical damage as well as fire damage. The flames are extremely hot and contact with them can cause major damage. The fire itself is highly flammable and can cause whatever she punches to catch flame. This power works by robbing the air around her fists of any moisture, causing the molecules to rub together and ignite.

  • Basan (“Fire-Breathing Fowl”): By punching the air in front of her, Masako can release huge balls of fire. This fire takes the shape of large skulls which explodes on contact of whatever it touches, engulfing it in flames. They do this by “swallowing” whatever she aims at. The resulting explosion is rather large and takes down anything around her target(s).

  • Kosenjobi (“Ancient Battlefield Fire”): Masako can compress the flames around her fists into a 5 in. blade. This blade comes from the notch by her pinky fingers and is incredibly hot, able to cut through almost anything like a soldering iron.
    • Kosenjobi: Akurojin no Hi ("Ancient Battlefield Fire; Fire of the God of the Bad Road"): An advanced version of Kosenjobi, this technique allows Masako to summon a huge blade of fire. This blade is about 25 in. long (about the length of her katana) and comes from the end closer to her index fingers. This technique effectively summons a sword made of superhot fire. Like the dagger, the sword can cut through practically anything.

  • Kechibi (“Fireball Soul”): Kaika creates huge balls of fire in the palms of Masako’s hands. She can combine a flame from each hand to make one huge fireball. The fireball has the same effect as Basan when it reaches its target but the resulting blast is a lot bigger.

Bankai: Kaika Kamasoushu (“Ghost Fire; Furnace Hands”): Flames completely engulf Masako’s hands and arms, taking on the appearance of large skulls. The flames quickly dissipate and are turned into enormous black gauntlets which cover both her hands and arms. The gauntlets feature large skulls over her hands. Fire, light, and smoke are constantly being emitted from the skulls eyes, nose, and mouth. (Similar to 26052015)

    Bankai Special Ability:

Fire Manipulation: In Bankai, Masako’s ability to summon flames is now enhanced. Along with being able to summon fire, the gauntlets augment her strength as well so even a simple punch from them can cause immense damage. Add to it the fire, and her gauntlets are quite powerful indeed. Because of their all-encompassing nature, she can’t really grasp things anymore as the skulls completely cover her hands. She’s still able to completely cover her fists in fire and can now use a stronger version of Basan without commanding it.

  •  Kazedama (“Wind Ball”): The skulls open their mouths and release waves of pure heat that melts anything it comes in contact with. At its smallest level, anyone in the vicinity will experience symptoms of heat stroke. At its highest level, anything it touches will melt and burst into flames. This technique is constantly activated so just being in Masako’s vicinity will cause damage.

  • Kosenjobi: Akurojin no Hi ("Ancient Battlefield Fire; Fire of the God of the Bad Road"): Just like in Shikai, this technique allows Masako to summon a huge blade of fire. This blade is about 40 in. long (about the length of a nodachi) and comes from the mouths of the skulls.

    • Nobi (“Field Fire”): By stabbing the ground with her sword, several lines of fire shoot from the point of impalement, damaging anyone in its path. Then, walls of fire shoot from the lines made by the sword. Another variation of this technique allows Masako to stab the ground, commanding a pillar of fire to spring up under the enemy, incinerating them.

  • Hidama (“Falling Star”): The skull’s mouths open and releases streams of fire into the air, causing huge balls of fire to rain from the sky.

Spirit- Kaika’s spirit manifestation is a lean creature completely composed of fire and molten rock. His body is human-shaped but made entirely out of compressed fire. The main part of his body is made of blue flames which turn pale blue at his limbs, and end white at the hands, feet, and the top of his head. He has clawed hands and feet, a tail, tentacle-like hair, and a demonic, dragon face. The molten rock part of his body covers his body like plate armor. The rock imitates a human musculature system, giving Kaika the appearance of being muscular. His flaming body can be seen within the cracks of the rock and sporadically, actual flames can be seen jumping from in between the cracks.

Confident and impulsive, Kaika is cocky, aggressive, and brash. He is an arrogant narcissist with a temper and most of the time, Kaika can be seen making jokes and laughing manically, but if he gets angry, he’s a force to look out for. His temper is so dangerous, he becomes blinded to even his allies and attacks indiscriminately. Kaika and Masako are very similar in a lot of ways in terms of personality and it’s because of this they don’t get along and seem to always argue. To the point that Kaika sometimes won’t manifest if Masako angers him.

Inner World- Kaika’s World is one of fire, heat, and lava. There are huge volcanoes in a constant state of eruption, shaking the ground and filling the sky with thick black smoke. The smoke is so thick, there is no telling whether there is a sky. Chunks of rock and flurries of ash rain from the sky and the air is so hot, it’s impossible to breathe. The ground is immensely hot and there are lakes of lava and fire everywhere. There are enormous cracks and caverns carved into the earth from the everlasting flow of lava. If someone other than Masako were to enter this world, they would probably instantly burst into flames.

Kaika lives within a cave carved into the side of the largest volcano and its entrance is marked by black skulls, similar to the ones seen in Bankai. Lava flows from the skulls mouths and coalesce into a stream that flows into the cave. There, Kaika sits in front of a pool of lava that pours out over the side of the volcano as he’s perched atop a throne carved into the interior of the mountain.

Trivia-

  • The 13th Division specializes in monitoring activity in the Human World. They spend very small amounts of time in the Seireitei and instead many of them will immerse themselves in the lives of humans. Within the 13th Division, there are separate groups of 2 and each group is assigned to a different town, city, or quadrant. They hunt Hollows, lay souls to rest, and report any suspicious activity directly to the Captain-Commander. They frequently work with Quincy, Fullbringers, and Awakened Humans. Because of the large amount of time they spend in the Human World, most of the members opt out of wearing traditional Shinigami uniforms and everyone is given a gigai. Also many of them will integrate themselves into human jobs best suited for protection- policeman, firefighter, paramedic, doctor, etc. Hyogo, the Captain of this division, has become fascinated with Yakuza culture and in gigai is a member of the Yakuza. Masako’s gigai is a high school student with an afterschool job at an animal hospital.

  • The names of all of Kaika’s attacks are the names of Japanese flame demons/spirits.

  • Possibly because of her affinity towards fire, Masako is always hot and carries around a fan at all times. When off duty, she can be found wandering the barracks naked because she’s so hot. This also means that when it’s cold, she doesn’t need to layer up as much as many.

  • Masako doesn’t have the best relationship with her mother which is ironic considering their powers are similar. On the inverse, she has a great relationship with her father despite the fact that their reiatsu cancel each other out. When they’re together, things literally gets steamy.

  • Although her Zanpakuto is fire-based like her mother’s, Kaika’s spirit form takes the appearance of a dragon like her father’s. Her flames also follow the same color scheme as ice.

  • Toushiro’s nickname for Masako is “Snowflake”.

  • Masako is not only the youngest lieutenant but also the newest to her position. The position remained opened for quite some time after Captain Kazui Kurosaki defected and Hyogo took his place.

  • Masako is also close friends with Kiba Komamura as they grew up together as legacies. They enjoy getting into trouble together.

  • In the Eastern Zodiac, Masako represents the Dragon

Base of Operations- Seireitei, Soul Society

Appearance-

Bakemono is very unusual in appearance. The most obvious trait is their dark periwinkle skin and white hair which makes them stand out regardless of where they are. Parts of their body fade into lavender and end in dark purple such as their ears, fingertips, tail, etc. They’re also bioluminescent so their skin is dotted with spots which will glow in darkness, including their cat-like golden eyes which frequently glow. They also have long, pointed ears, clawed hands and feet, fangs, a long prehensile tail, and a “crown” of horns. What you cannot see it that their lower jaw can split open and is filled with rows of fangs which can rip a person apart. Their tongue is also dark blue and is extremely long. Bakemono also wears a futuristic gauntlet on their right arm and boots.

Before the modifications, Bakemono was rather plain in appearance with black hair and eyes, a light skin tone, and slender build.

Personality-

Extremely loyal to Kokkan, Bakemono's service to their Captain defines their entire persona. But it’s not just their captain, it’s anyone in a position of power really. Whatever their fascination with it, Bakemono is seduced by power and powerful people. They appear to be completely loyal to Kokkan but if they were assigned a different division or Kokkan was replaced, they would display that same obsession to the new Captain.

Bakemono is also extremely cowardly and though they are very proud and flattered that Kokkan chooses to take them into battle as an ally, Bakemono cannot dismiss their survival instincts, and they always look out for their own self-preservation and try to find any excuse to leave the field of battle to let things be settled by others. They’re not afraid to fight and believe wholeheartedly in their own skill but they’ll try and weasel out of combat if all of their research shows they will not win. But they would never leave without Kokkan’s express permission.

Bakemono is also quite impulsive, angrily speaking on Kokkan's behalf when they feel thier Captain has been insulted or on matters they believe Kokkan's pride would never allow him to say himself. They demand absolute respect for Kokkan, and even the slightest perceived disrespect, such as the tone of those addressing him, quickly gets a rise out of Bakemono. They are also willing to allow Kokkan to take credit for their work, sometimes even giving him credit for it without being prompted.

Bakemono is rather cynical, and always thinks that people are nice to Kokkan only in order to trap or betray him. They are very suspicious and trusts virtually no one.

Although Bakemono has very high respect for Kokkan, they have nothing but disdain and impatience for most others. The only person they have any affection for besides Kokkan is probably themselves. Although praising Kokkan rarely requires embellishment, Bakemono is extremely arrogant and frequently plays up their accomplishments and importance as a lieutenant of the Gotei 13, as well as their own intelligence and power, often in an attempt to garner respect and intimidate rivals who underestimate them due to their appearance.

Bakemono has an innate need to keep modifying their selves until they are perfect. This perfect has been programmed into them so even if they don’t want to do it, they must. They refuse to test new procedures out on test subjects because they want to be the only ones with these modifications.

Equipment-

  • Guantlet: The gauntlet and arm armor Bakemono wears have energy cores in the palms of their hand that can produce hard light and energy made from concentrated reiatsu. This allows them to fire energy blasts as well as create constructs of hard light, including weapons, barriers, and objects. Their gauntlet can also create hard light daggers from the top of their hands.

  • Boots: Of the same design as their gauntlet, the boots allow Bakemono to fly as they are armed with energy cores on the soles and backs of the boots. This allows them to move via hard light jets. Because the jets let out concentrated blasts of reiatsu, they can also be used as a weapon as well as augment their running speed.

Inventions-

  • Clones: Unknown, even to those within Division 12, Bakemono has a secret lab where they conduct secret experiments on prisoners. They do this in order to test out modifications they would eventually like to add to themselves. But of these experiments, Bakemono’s most significant is the creation of about 50 clones of Bakemono. Although they all look practically identical, each clone also seems to serve a special function. There’s an extremely muscular clone made for strength based combat, a cybernetic clone, and a female clone to name a few. It is unknown if they are alive and functional or if they can somehow transfer their consciousness into the clones. Many believe the reason Bakemono prefers to be referred to as “they/them/their” is because it refers to the clones as well.

  • Doko Demome: Bakemono’s all-seeing eyes. They have a wide range of optical abilities, including X-Ray and microscopic vision. Bakemono uses these eyes to spy on everyone they deem interesting in the Seireitei. The eyes also have the ability to become invisible.

Powers & Abilities

Genius Intellect: Bakemono is the most intelligent, scientific, and inventive mind in Soul Society, next to Kokkan Kuchiki.

  • Expert Scientist & Inventor: As a member of the Shinigami Research and Development Institute, Bakemono has remarkable intellect. With their scientific knowledge, they are very insightful, quickly understanding a situation for what it is and comprehending the nature behind their opponent's technique. Their area of expertise is Body Modification, a skill they learned from ex-Captain Kurotsuchi in his dying days and has improved upon.

  • Expert Chemist: Being the Vice-President of the Research and Development Institute, Bakemono is an adept chemist.

Master Strategist: Because of the nature of their Zanpakuto ability, Bakemono is a master at strategy. Bakemono has proven themselves to be a masterful and flexible tactician, adjusting seamlessly to any given combat situation, if not planning out events well in advance. They understand the strengths, weaknesses and mannerisms of their enemies, and creates strategies to achieve victory.

  • Pattern Recognition Expert: Bakemono has the natural ability to perceive patterns and paradigms. Using this skill, they’re able to perceive, analyze, and utilize patterns laid out by the repetition of the subject. This allows them many different skills including heightened analytical skills, see through deceptions, locate individuals, calculate probability, and even predict an enemies oncoming attack.

Expert Swordsman: Bakemono is a proficient in swordsmanship, possessing quick precision and performing lethal attacks with little effort.

Shunpo Expert: As a lieutenant of the Gotei 13, Bakemono is highly proficient in Shunpo.

Kidō Master
: Bakemono has considerable knowledge of mid- and high- level Kidō spells, casting several in quick succession. They can cast them with no incantation and almost no effort, but do not possess the same amount of force behind them. They can use a low-level spell repeatedly in rapid succession and with devastating effects, as well as a counter to attacks.

Hakuda Combatant: While used less often, Bakemono is proficient enough in this area. Bakemono can stealthily knock out several Shinigami with a single strike each.

Immense Spiritual Power: Their most noticeable trait is their extremely high level of spiritual power. They can exert an immense amount of Spiritual Pressure, which, in addition to their already admirable combat skills and finesse, makes them one of the most formidable lieutenants. Their spiritual pressure can be felt from a great distance, and it has the tendency to make people perspire in fear. Their Reiatsu is white.

Enhanced Endurance: Bakemono is a very resilient fighter. They can ignore grievous wounds to the point where they seem unfazed by them and at the end of the fight, still be able to remain.

Enhanced Durability: Bakemono has a high level of durability, able to quickly bounce back from even the strongest of attacks.

Body Modifications:

  • Eyes: Bakemono has altered their eyes to see well beyond the capabilities of a normal human.
  • Skin: Bakemono’s skin is not only odd in appearance but is also bio-luminescent when they need it to be. Because of this, their skin absorbs sunlight constantly and the converted energy also makes Bakemono’s skin much more durable than normal, allowing them to take hits that should be much more damaging.
  • Nails/ Claws: Bakemono’s nails have a strength akin to the hardness of diamond. This allows them the ability to rip through steel if they chose to.
  • Enhanced Senses: Bakemono has altered their senses to see, hear, smell, taste, and feel well beyond the capabilities of a normal human. This also grants them enhanced strength.
  • Prehensile Tail: Bakemono possesses a tail that is not only strong but is prehensile, meaning they can use it to grapple and hold objects.
  • Scent Erasure: Bakemono has completely erased their natural body odor.

Zanpakuto-

Shushasentaku (“Initial Choice”): In its sealed state, it resembles an average nodachi. It has a circle tsuba and a light green hilt. Bakemono doesn’t carry the sword sheathed on their person but housed within their throat so that when they draw it, they must reach into their mouth.

Shikai: Its Shikai command is Your Choice Will Change Life, My Choice Will Change Fate; Make Your Choice and Live With Its Consequences (“Anata no sentaku wa jinsei o kae, watashi no sentaku wa unmei o kaerudeshou. Anata no sentaku o shite, sono kekka o ikasu”). A small hole appears in the blade of their sword, close to the hilt. As the hole expands, so does the sword’s blade around it. When it’s done, the sword now features a medium-sized circle near the guard with the rest of the blade coming from the top of the circle.

    Shikai Special Ability:

Cause and Effect Manipulation: By gazing into the circle in the middle of their sword, Bakemono is able to deduce the cause of an event and its subsequent effect. They see these occurrences as multicolored threads that originate at the cause and connect to its effect. One cause can have many different possible effects as a simple change in their mind will thus change the outcome of the effect.

The effects that are shown are not completely random but are wholly based on probability. The effects which come from the cause are the effects that have the highest probability of happening if the cause were to take that specific action. The threads which are the thickest and shine brightest have the highest probability of being the action that will be taken.

Along with their ability to see these threads, by touching them, Bakemono can gain insight (or brief visions) of the event that the thread pertains to. This allows them to determine if the event will happen or not.

By cutting the thread, they can effectively stop that effect from ever happening. For example, if there is a thread that connects their opponent (the cause) to their ally (the effect), they can cut that thread and when their opponent attacks their ally, the attack will somehow never reach its intended target.

As such, Bakemono can also cut a thread and connect it to something else. This gives them the slight ability to warp reality as even if they connect two things that have a low to impossible probability of ever interacting, their power will make it so that eventually, they will interact. It might not be instantaneous but it will happen.

Although a powerful ability, there are several drawbacks to this power. Firstly, they can only interact with the threads if they can see them and they can only see them through their sword’s circle. This means that if they don’t gaze through the circle, they cannot affect the effect. Secondly, because people are constantly changing their minds, the threads are constantly changing. This is why their power relies on their strategic skill as they must be very strategic in which threads they cut and which ones they connect elsewhere. Thirdly, their own personal speed is an important factor as an enemy can simply stop them from looking into the sword’s circle if they’re faster than Bakemono is. And finally, this technique is not very subtle so it’s fairly impossible for them to use their powers discreetly as someone can clearly see them holding the sword to their face.

Despite these drawbacks, Shushasentaku is still an impressive Zanpakuto and useful in battle as it becomes incredibly difficult to land an attack on someone who can not only see it before it happens but can literally stop it from hurting them.

Bankai: Not Yet Achieved

Spirit- Shushasentaku doesn’t have a single appearance as it constantly changes. Sometimes it looks like people Bakemono knows, other times its people that they might not remember they’ve met but it’s always someone they’ve met even if it was as a baby. Even Bakemono doesn’t know Shushasentaku’s true form. It is ominous and creepy.

Inner World- Shushasentaku’s Inner world looks like Bakemono’s  childhood home, except everything looks like the negative of a picture so colors are very skewed. The only things that have true color are Bakemono and Shushasentaku

Trivia-

    ·         Bakemono is the result of experimentation on the part of Captain Akuihaku when he was Captain of the 12th Division. Unlike some of his other subjects, though, Bakemono liked what Doku did and decided to study body modification and continued to experiment on themselves. Unknown to Bakemono, Doku “programmed” them to want to continue their modification so that even if he died (which he did), his dream of creating a new species would continue.

    ·         Bakemono has hinted that they’ve modified “other” parts of their body that can’t be seen but no one’s been brave enough to take them up on that offer to see.

    ·         Bakemono considered themselves “non-gendered” even before the experiments. Honestly, had Doku not experimented on them, they probably would have eventually done it themselves.

    ·         They refer to Kokkan as “Lord Kokkan” and they would never dream to have a relationship with him that is more than what they are now. This isn’t because Bakemono isn’t attracted to Kokkan but that they don’t feel worthy yet because they are incomplete.

    ·         Even though Doku was the one who began their modifications, Bakemono sought out the reclusive ex-Captain Mayuri Kurotsuchi, who was extremely ill. With the help of Nemu, Mayuri taught Bakemono everything he knew about body modification in the span of 15 years and commented moments before his death that Bakemono was the closest living thing he considered a child of his.

    ·         Many of the others find Bakemono to be strange and off putting so they avoid them at all costs.

    ·         When Kizui’s betrayal and that of the others were revealed, many suspected Bakemono of being a spy and were very suspicious of them but they are loyal to the Soul Society.

    ·         In the Eastern Zodiac, Bakemono represents the Rat.

Previous Position- 3rd Seat of the 11th Division

Division- 11th Division

Division Color- Lavender

Partner- Katlego Kartikeya Mangala

Base of Operations- Seireitei, Soul Society

Appearance-

Katlego is a striking woman with dark skin, cerulean hair, and dark eyes. Her hair is styled in unique fashion, commonly known as Bantu knots. She has 3 small white dots underneath both eyes and a red line going from her bottom lip to her chin.

She wears the typical Shinigami uniform but hers is sleeveless and tattered at both the shoulder and the ends of her hakama. She wears a collar of gold rings with matching bangles on her wrists and ankles. She wears a beaded multicolored belt with an attached loincloth-like piece.

Personality-

Katlego is violent and fight-loving. Although she is known to be a violent fighter, Katlego's actions tend to be for the best. Katlego lives for battle, and enjoys a good fight more than anything.  She is also quite stubborn and cocky at times. She loves fighting so much, she is unwilling to travel anywhere without a sword and on multiple occasions, Katlego has shown great respect to those who can defeat her in a fight as well as those who can push her to her limit. She’s constantly trying to grow as a warrior so she sees battling stronger opponents as growth or training, even in the most intense battles.

But her love of battle isn’t because she really loves to fight. She fights because she believes it’s the only thing she’s actually good at so she tries to get better and better at it. Katlego wants to be the best but moreso, she wants to be remembered. She wants to be considered a legend and will engage in battle a million times if it results in everyone knowing her name.

Although she thrives for battle, Katlego does have emotions. She’s extremely self-conscious and believes that she won’t be remembered. She even fears it. This is because she grew up with so many siblings that she felt neglected and ignored so she feels the need to prove to herself and the world that she is worthy of recognition. Sometimes her lack of self-worth will cause her to retreat within herself and make her have bouts of quiet depression. When this happens, she becomes aggressive towards everyone and needs to fight these feelings out until she feels better which usually works as her proficient battle prowess brightens her mood.

She idolizes her captain but hates that he refuses to fight. Although she believes he deserves his title as Kenpachi, she resents him a little for not using it to make a name for himself.

Powers & Abilities

Master Swordsman: Despite being ranked as the lieutenant of her division, her rank does not reflect her fighting abilities, which are of near-captain level. According to Kenpachi Mangala, Katlego was the 2nd strongest person in the 11th Division when she was the 3rd Seat. She uses a fighting style noted to be rough, but powerful, and with complex movements. She is also ambidextrous and can switch between the two hands with ease. Her mastery of this skill is great enough for many in her division to beg her to train them.

Hakuda Expert: While preferring to use her blade in battle, Katlego has proven several times to be very dangerous while barehanded, showing considerably effective brawling prowess. She can easily catch an opponent's attack with a single hand, perform powerful punches and kicks, and easily subdue opponents with throws and take-downs. Katlego could easily overwhelm several members of the Onmitsukidō, a corp of Hakuda-specialists, despite being battle-worn.

Kidō Practitioner: As a student at the Shin'ō Academy, Katlego showed poor skill in Kidō. Later, she is skilled enough in the use of the level 31 Shakkahō spell without incantation, but has difficulty using it in rapid succession, as some will explode on her indiscriminately. She also uses a low-level Bakudō spell to restrain multiple targets. Katlego also has enough knowledge of Kidō to manipulate it for purposes other than fighting.

Shunpo Practitioner: Katlego uses Shunpo frequently, though she only uses it to keep up with stronger opponents so she can fight more.

Supernatural Strength: Katlego possesses a very large degree of physical strength for someone her size, most commonly displayed by her ability to push back her opponent's attacks with a single arm, even if the opponent's weapons and attacks are gigantic in size. She can carry two full-grown human corpses on her shoulders without much apparent effort.

Enhanced Endurance: Her physical prowess is equally shown by her resilience. Katlego often ignores most of the injuries she sustains in battle, not suffering any debilitation despite having multiple slash wounds on her body and rarely any signs of pain. She will allow herself to be stabbed during fights just to grab the blade to disable them. She is able to ignore most injuries without noticeably affecting her performance even winning battles despite being grievously injured.

Supernatural Durability: As resilient as Katlego is, she is just as hard to damage. She has been launched several meters and smashed him into a large pillar and despite the impact, she will quickly emerge unfazed.

Enhanced Speed: While she possesses little skill in Shunpo, Katlego is deceptively fast for her size and build. Thanks to the tremendous raw strength in her legs, Katlego's natural acceleration more than make up for her lack of Shunpo, allowing her to move fast enough to instantly close a huge gap of space between her and her opponent, and even seemingly disappear from sight. In battle, she can strike with incredible speed in rapid succession, making it highly difficult for her opponents to find an opening and counterattack.

High Spiritual Power: As a lieutenant and former 3rd seat of the Gotei 13, Katlego boasts a high level of spiritual power. Her spiritual energy is red

Zanpakuto-

Panga Ya Madaraka (“Swords of Power”): In its sealed state, it resembles a black and silver hilted billao dagger.

Shikai: Its Shikai command is May The Tales Of This Battle Be Told For Centuries To Come (“Huenda Visa Vya Watu Wa Vita Hii Kuambiwa Kwa Karne Ijayo”). The sword glows with red light before fracturing off and coalescing at her fingers. Her sword is now 10 rings. Each ring looks different in appearance and there’s one for every finger. Despite the fact that her Bankai rings are on her fingers, she cannot use them until her Bankai is activated. Her right hand represents her Shikai and her left is her Bankai.

    Shikai Special Ability:

Sword Summoning: Each ring represents a sword of myth and legend that Katlego can summon to use at her disposal. All of the swords have the ability to cut any physical matter and their cutting power is greatly increased but each sword also has an additional ability. This new ability allows Katlego to cut something non-corporeal. This ranges greatly by ring but makes her a formidable opponent. By calling the swords name, she can summon it and use it to its fullest potential. Once a sword has been summoned, if it is broken or rendered useless in battle, Katlego cannot summon it again until her Zanpakuto is sealed and released again.

As the right hand is considered the more “physical” hand, the abilities attributed to Shikai are of the more physical nature.

    ·         Fragarach (“The Retaliator”):  The ring found on Katlego’s right pinky finger. As a ring, it resembles a bronze Celtic Claddagh ring, which features two encircling hands holding a crowned heart. As a sword, it takes the appearance of a Celtic Dress sword which has a dark brown and lighter brown hilt and no guard. The top of the hilt features a gold crescent-shaped design.

Fragarach has the ability to cut Health. This means that any wound afflicted by this sword will not heal. The wounds will bleed until the victim has either died from the actual wound or from blood lose.

    ·         Carnwennen (“White Hilt”): The ring found on Katlego’s right ring finger. As a ring, it is a silver band which features a repeated triquetra design. This sword is unique in that it takes the form of a dagger with a white hilt. The hilt appears to be made of ivory and also features the same triquetra design etched into it. On the end of the hilt is a medallion-shaped piece which features a man’s face. The guard resembles a crescent shape pointed towards the hilt. The blade of the dagger has an iridescent sheen to it, giving it a slight rainbow-like pattern.

Carnwennen has the ability to cut Light & Shadow, allowing Katlego to bend light around her, essentially making her invisible. In order to do this, she must hold the dagger in front of her. This causes the light to be sliced as it approaches her, effectively putting her in an area of shadow. The drawback to this ability is that the invisibility only works on the side the dagger is cutting so if the dagger is held in front of her, only her front will be invisible. Anyone who sees her from behind will see that she appears to be cloaked in shadows. Anyone or anything close behind her will also experience this invisibility.

o        Dyrnwyn (“White Hilt”): This attack allows Katlego to attack a person’s shadow. She can stab it, causing immobilization or she can cut it, resulting in equivalent damage to the owner of the shadow.

    ·         Tizona Colada (“Firebrande”;“Pure Steel”): The ring found on Katlego’s right middle finger. As a ring, it is a large golden ring with a Spanish Cross and a thick band clustered in rubies. As a sword, it resembles a Toledo sword with a golden hilt with a floral motif and rubies decorating it. The guard features a twisted design that gives the guard the appearance of a rapier.

Tizona Colada has the ability to cut Atoms. When this is done, the resulting atomic reaction caused by nuclear fission results in huge explosions. The more slashes she makes, the more explosions will result. By quickly slashing the air all around her opponent, she can cause a massive explosion. The explosions seem to be a combination of energy, fire, and electricity.

    ·         Kusanagi (“Grass Cutter”): The ring found on Katlego’s right index finger. As a ring, it takes the shape of a detailed white snake. The snake twists and coils around the whole finger. The eyes of the snake are glowing rubies. As a sword, it is guardless and features a white, metallic hilt which vaguely resembles the spine of a fish. The blade resembles that of a chokuto and along the blade, is the image of a snake.

Kusanagi has the ability to cut the Wind & Air. By doing this, Katlego creates a vacuum which she can use to her advantage, creating vacuum blades which can cut through most things from a distance but also grants her a limited ability to control wind.

o        Kusanagi noTotsuka ("Grass Cutting Sword With Length of Ten Fists"): This technique summons forth an enormous tornado which engulfs her enemy. After her opponent has been lifted from the ground, she summons 8 replicas of her sword as they all become a part of the tornado, cutting the one trapped inside to ribbons.

    ·         Shamshir-e Zomorrodnegar (“Emerald-Studded”): The ring found on Katlego’s right thumb. As a ring, this golden ring features a large oval-shaped emerald. It is surrounded by teeth-like designs while the thick band features images of flowers and birds. As a sword, it takes the appearance of a shorter guardless shamshir whose golden hilt features diamonds and 3 large emeralds along its length.

Shamshir-e Zomorrodnegar has the ability to cut Energy. Katlego especially uses this skill to cut her enemy’s reiatsu. By cutting a specific part of the body, she can halt the direction in which the reiatsu flows, making it impossible for it to flow to the place she wounded. If she were to cut her opponent’s Zanpakuto, it would seal itself and probably be cut in half. She can also, of course, cut through energy-based attacks.

Bankai: Mapanga Hadithi Ya Madaraka (“Legendary Swords of Power”).

    Bankai Special Ability:

Sword Summoning: In Bankai, nothing about her powers really change except she’s now able to summon the swords bound to the rings on her left hand. Just like the inverse in Shikai, the rings on her right hand are no longer able to be used. While the swords of her right hand could cut things of a more physical nature, the ones on her left hand cut concepts, ideas, and laws. The cutting power of each sword normally is also more enhanced than it had previously been, making them quite powerful indeed.

    ·         Damocles (“Fame of the People”): The ring found on Katlego’s left pinky finger. As a ring, it takes the form of a typical gold laurel leaf crown. As a sword, it resembles a stylized rhomphaia type sword with a dark wooden handle and an extremely simplified rapier- like guard. Attached to the end of the sword is a thin gold chain with a small, needle-like blade attached to the end. Katlego can use this as a weapon as well and even though the chain is thin, it is extremely durable.

Damocles has the ability to cut through Fortune & Luck. With every cut of this blade, the opponent’s good fortune will be cut, resulting in bad luck and ill fortune. The more they are cut, the more bad luck will occur to the point that they will lose control of their powers which will most likely rage out of control and kill them.

    ·         Curtana (“Sword of Mercy”): The ring found on Katlego’s left ring finger. As a ring, it features a large golden ring that resembles an English crown. It’s covered in gold, diamonds, and rubies. As a sword, it has a gilt-iron hilt, a wooden grip bound in wire, with an octagonal medallion on the hilt’s end. The blade is unusual as it has a blunted, square end and most of it is bound in crimson velvet with gold embroidery.

Curtana has the ability to cut Memories. Unlike her other rings, Katlego cannot physically cut anything with this sword as the blade merely passes through anything she tries to cut. When Curtana is activated, Katlego can see golden lines of energy that originate from the victim that connects from them to anyone around them. These energy paths are the ties which bind people together. Using her sword, Katlego can sever these threads, effectively destroying the enemy’s memories of that person, turning friends into strangers.

    ·         Moralltach (“Great Fury”): The rings found on Katlego’s left middle finger. As rings, they take the form of 2 simple silver and gunmetal bands. The bands feature a Celtic Knot design. She wears one ring fully on her finger, while the other falls right above her middle knuckle. As swords, they take the form of a sword and a dagger. The sword (Moralltach) takes the shape of a traditional claymore. The hilt is pure silver and features the same Celtic Knot design as the ring. Interestingly enough, the blade of the sword is black and has a small Celtic Knot design at the base of the blade in silver. The dagger (Beagalltach) is a claymore as well but a lot smaller. The hilt of the dagger is mostly black with silver details. Unlike the sword, the dagger has a gunmetal and silver blade and the Celtic Knot design appears to be a part of the blade and not just a design.

Moralltach and Beagalltach have the ability to cut through Space. Using this skill is most effective at a distance. Every slash Katlego makes with Moralltach, can teleport in front of it, even if no cut is made. This is based on Katlego’s line of sight. What this means is that even if Katlego is 50 ft. away from her enemy, if she makes a slash in their direction, as long as she can see them, the enemy will be cut as the slash will move through space and cut them. Basically, everytime this sword is wielded, the enemy will always get cut. This aspect of the sword’s power, though, only works long range. Close range, it only cuts normally.

o        Beagalltach (“Little Fury”): The dagger has the ability to cut “pockets” into space itself. This allows Katlego to displace herself spatially or “teleport” herself. This works on objects as well as one of her favorite tactics is to teleport Moralltach through one of these pockets to attack the enemy from behind. Anything that enters the pocket will maintain the same force and momentum as it had before so something thrown into the pocket will return from the other end as if it had been thrown, without slowing down.

    ·         Muramasamune: The rings found on Katlego’s left index finger. As rings, they take the form of 2 stacked rings. They are simple in design as one features 2 koi fish encircling the finger from opposing sides and directions. The one above that that is a little bigger and covers the rest of the bottom of the finger until the first knuckle and if features a wave-like design which twines the finger. As swords, they resemble typical nodachi with Muramasa being slightly shorter. They both have black hilts but Muramasa’s tsuba features a wave-like design similar to its ring while Masamune’s tsuba features a wave as well but incorporates the 2 koi from its ring.

Muramasamune, as they are collectively called, have the ability to cut through Morality. This is because, unlike her previous blades, these swords seem to have a morality of their own. Muramasa is a very violent sword and must shed blood, to the point that if Katlego wields this sword and it doesn’t get its blood, it will coerce her into attacking friends, allies, and even herself. Masamune on the other hand, is much calmer, gentler, and more serene, appearing only to want to help rather than harm.

o        Muramasa: As the more ruthless of the two swords, Muramasa wants blood by any means. Summoning this sword alone is not advised as it exudes an aura of violence and madness that only the presence of Masamune can quell. This sword has the power to corrupt those it cuts, bringing every sin and bit of darkness inside of them to light and amplifying it. Every cut made by this sword brings more wickedness to the surface until the victim is completely consumed by their own darkness. When this happens, Muramasa is satisfied and its blade will turn blood red. When Katlego speaks of Muramasa, she uses masculine pronouns.

o        Masamune: As the gentler of the two swords, Masamune refuses to hurt anyone who is pure of heart. Depending on the level of wickedness within her opponent, Masamune will only deliver damage equivalent to the amount of evil that person has committed. This means that a relatively good person will not be harmed as severely as someone who is not. This is where Muramasa comes into play. It is Muramasa’s job to bring forth the opponents inner darkness so that Masamune can cut it out. After a person becomes consumed by their wickedness, one slash from Masamune is enough to completely obliterate them. Despite the fact that Muramasa is not technically the one shedding blood, as a facilitator of bloodshed is enough to placate the sword. Coincidentally, although abhorring violence, Masamune sees these attacks as acts of mercy to rid them of their darkness. When Katlego speaks of Masamune, she uses feminine pronouns.

    ·         Excalibur (“Hard Cleft”): The ring found on Katlego’s left pinky finger. As a ring, it looks like a crude, gray stone band. As a sword, Excalibur takes the form of a typical broadsword. It has a silver hilt, decorated with sapphires and features a medallion on its end that features a large diamond. The sword’s guard also features lion’s heads on its ends. Excalibur’s blade is engraved with phrases on opposite sides: "Take me up" and "Cast me away”.

Excalibur has the ability to cut through Time. When this ability is activated, the blade of the sword glows with white light. On its own, this sword’s ability is quite powerful, able to erase the existence of any person or object that’s cut by it’s blade by erasing its history completely. Anyone who had an affiliation with the person or thing will not remember their existence as Excalibur cuts it away and rewrites its past. Although very powerful, there is a drawback to this sword’s power. In order to alter time, Katlego must sacrifice some of her own time. The longer she uses this power, the more of her own lifespan gets shortened. The bigger the attack, the more time that gets taken.

o        Caladbolg (“Hard Cleft”): This attack allows Katlego to decide a point in the future to set any object or person cut by Excalibur. This point decides how long the object has to live. As the point approaches, the object will begin to age, wither, and eventually die. By setting the point a minute after contact is made, the object will rapidly age. The difference between this and Excalibur’s main attack is that people will remember what’s dying as their past remains unaltered, only their future.

o        Claíomh Solais (“Light Sword”): When this attack is activated, Excalibur becomes completely cloaked in light. This attack is a counter to Caladbolg as it decides a point in a person or objects past and restores it to that state. Similar to Orihime’s Shun Shun Rikka, Katlego can use this ability to heal people and restore objects to their previous/new state.

Spirit- Panga Ya Madaraka appears as a tall, muscular, and physically imposing black man draped in a lion’s fur and the typical garb of a Kenyan king. Around his neck are many medals that make him glittler and glow. At the clasp of fur are hundreds of pins. Panga Ya Madaraka is proud and arrogant but also very ambitious and loud.

Inner World- The Inner World of Panga Ya Madaraka looks like a typical Kenyan village in the jungles of Africa. At the hub of the village is the largest straw hut, built much bigger than the rest. The others aso look ramshackle and poorly built but this one looks strong and intricate. The straw itself are actually pins of gold so the hut seems to glitter. Inside there are animal skins of all kinds hanging along the walls and at the front of the room is a giant throne. This throne looks grand and oppulent and even though everything else appears to be African, the throne looks European, like that of Queen Elizabeth with red velvet cusions, gold inlay along the finishings and jewels inset into it. Behind it is a large painting of Panga Ya Madaraka slaying a lion, presumably the one around his neck in a very Herculean scene of his grabbing the lion’s mouth as if he’s about to rip it apart barehanded.

Trivia-

  • Katlego comes from a well educated African family and speaks several languages including Swahili, Setswana, English, Japanese, Afrikaans, and a little Dutch.

  • Katlego is half- Kenyan and half- Botswana.

  • Technically, Katlego wields 12 swords as 2 of her swords (Moralltach/ Beagalltach and Muramasa/ Masamune) are both dual wielded weapons. If you count the blade attached to the chain of Damocles as a sword/dagger, she wields 13 swords.

  • Katlego’s Kenbukido title, Shumochi (“Serving The Master”) is equivalent to the Lieutenant position and generally the lieutenant of the 11th Division is also the Shumochi although this isn’t always the case, similar to how being a Kenpachi is not exclusive to the 11th Division.

  • Katlego has 11 brothers and sisters and was born right in the middle. Due to this, she often felt neglected and ignored, which is where her need to be legendary spawned from.

  • Katlego is extremely powerful and may one day become a Kenpachi herself. Her skills are so great that her own Captain fears that in her ambition to be legendary, she will challenge him for his title and his life. He’s not so proud to admit she might even win.

  • In the Eastern Zodiac, Katlego represents the Tiger
