Inner Sailor Senshi Redesign

So now that Sailor Moon is back, I've been super anxious to do a redesign. I've always loved that show and it's definitely a part of my childhood but even as a kid, I hated their outfits so I decided to redo them. I originally wanted them in futuristic battlesuits seeing as they're interplanetary princesses/guardians and I've alway felt that their outfits were very dated. But I've noticed that a lot of people give them battlesuits so I was next inspired by their transformation scenes, specifically Sailor Moon's (involving levitation and ribbons.) (Sailor Senshi Redesign [ORIGINAL]) but after drawing it, it was better as an idea so I went back to the battlesuit idea. The original photo was also done in the anime style matching Sailor Moon Crystal but I thought my version looked too cartoony so I went back to my own drawing style. I also made the characters older, making the oldest (Pluto) at least 25 and the youngest (Chibi) around 15. That means the Inner Senshi are all around 19-21.

First, I wanted the suit to be inspired by their sailor outfits but still look new so I replaced the layered fabric at the shoulder, hip, and top of gloves (I moved it to the wrist) with the hardware you see. Then I changed the gems on their chests into core reactors like Iron Man's Arc Reactor. I then changed the skirt and neckerchief into some extra fabric and voila! In my mind, their suits are completely white, the skirt and cape at the shoulders and hips are the same color as the scout's skirt/neckerchief, the core reactors are the same color as their original gems, and the color of the bows can be found in the glowing notches of the hardware found on the shoulders, hips, wrists, ankles, and back of the shoe. The kneepads and elbowpads also glow the same color.

I hate bows so I got rid of them and I'm perfectly aware that their shoes are impractical for battle but I think they look cool and I own a pair. They're quite comfortable. I also decided to give them each a customized version of the suit to fit their personalities which I tried to keep as close to the original as possible. I also hate the fact that most of the characters had those awful anime bangs so I reduced their number greatly. I wanted the characters to look sleek, edgy, and futuristic. They can all levitate.
(When I drew them, I didn't think about height so none of them are height proportionate.)

Sailor Mars
Colors- (Main) Red (Secondary) Purple
Special Power- Premonitions/Precognition
Weapon- Dual Plasma Blaster Guns and Plasma Ofuda
Sailor Mars is the long-ranged sniper of the group. I changed her bow and arrow to guns that fire super-heated plasma beams and instead of paper ofuda, see can make rectangular plasma that orbit her body and she can pluck from mid-air and launch at her opponents. I decided to give her a full skirt to match her feminine and classy personality.

Sailor Mercury
Colors- (Main) Light Blue (Secondary) Blue
Special Power- Superspeed
Weapon- Caduceus
Sailor Mercury is the group intel and espionage. I gave her super speed after the god she's named after and I also hated that many of her abilities weren't very good to fight with so I gave her a dagger named Caduceus (Not pictured). It's blade is made of cryonic energy that flash freezes whatever it cuts but she doesn't use it often. Her headset is made of light blue hard light that she can expand and widen to her own desire. This allows her to turn the headset into a full on touch screen computer system or expands to allow her allies to see her intel. I left off the cape and skirt on her uniform because I think she would need to be as streamlined as possible to reduce drag when she runs. Mercury has always been my favorite of the Inner Senshi. Even though Mercury's main color is blue and her accent is light blue, I switched them since Moon also has a blue skirt and I wanted them to look different.

Sailor Moon
Colors- (Main) Blue (Secondary) Red
Special Power- Healing
Weapon- Light Frisbee
The trusty leader and defender of justice, Sailor Moon. I've never liked her as a main character as I've always found her super annoying and I hate her hair so I tried to make them a little cooler. I changed her hair to white/silver as I think it makes her look better, there are too many blondes in the line up, and the creator herself wanted Moon to have silver hair to begin with. Sailor Moon wears the generic version of what the battlesuit looks like without any adornments or modifications.

Sailor Jupiter
Colors- (Main) Green (Secondary) Pink
Special Power- Superstrength
Weapon- Lightning Gauntlets
Sailor Jupiter is the main fighter and offense of the group. Her suit adsorbs and stores electricity of all kinds whether it's lightning, static, or electricity and uses it to put the power of electricity into her punches. I wanted to give her a bone straight high ponytail as I think that looks a lot sleeker but to add variation and stay true to her character, I added her waviness to the ends. I made her suit sleeveless and short because she's the most active in the group and needs to be able to move. It wasn't until later that I realized she's not supposed to have a cape on her suit. So imagine it's not there. You can't tell but she has roses on her ear things.

Sailor Venus
Colors- (Main) Orange (Secondary) Blue
Special Power- Death Kiss
Weapon- Energy Whips
The offensive defense of the group, Sailor Venus uses her whips of light and energy to ensnare, attack, and protect her friends. The whips can come from any part of her uniform where light is released which means it can come from her shoulders, hips, heels, ankles, toe and wrists. Of all the redesigns, I strayed the most with Venus for several reasons. There's not really a sexy character in the group so I chose Venus for obvious reasons and gave her a more revealing, bathing suit like design for her battle suit and gave her sexy thigh highs. I hate half-up, half-down hair on anyone over the age of 6 so I changed it slightly and made it super long. I hate bows so I replaced it with a hair pin.
